All Tangled Up. :)

Walt Disney Pictures presents "Tangled,"
one of the most hilarious, hair-raising tale ever told.

It can not be denied that the magic of Walt Disney films have touched each
and everyone of us with timeless adventures and musical tunes that are known
for getting stuck in our heads.
:)

In a feature that revolves around hair-- no but really-- this adorable film retells the story of Rapunzel, starring Hollywood sweetheart Mandy Moore (Rapunzel) and funny man Zachary Levi as her 'prince' Flynn Ryder.

First of all, Tangled has everything you expect from a Disney film. It has catchy music, good dialogue and a charming story. It is witty and hilarious, with a bit of cliche thrown in. The comedic timing is outstanding, and it feels like every five minutes you are smiling, laughing or both. Most of the humor comes from a mix between the antics between supporting characters and dialogue spoken by Flynn Ryder and Mother Gothel.

The character of Rapunzel who has a special healing power in her long golden locks is sweet, innocent and kind which is nothing less than what you expect from a fairy tale princess. Flynn Ryder (voiced by Zachary Levi) reminds me a lot of Aladdin, where as he had a rough upbringing, turns bandit as a result of it but ultimately learns the important lessons life has to bring him and becomes the selfless prince-worthy guy we want our princess to end up with.
The biggest surprise of all was Mother Gothel. She isn't your typical "evil witch" character at all. Although her motives are selfish and ruin the lives of everyone in her path, she is downright hilarious! She has this witty way about her, where out of context the words she says would be mean and cruel but she adds a "Just teasing. I love you." and you can't help but laugh.

Possible the two most comedic characters in the movie are the royal horse and Rapunzel's partner in crime-- her chameleon. These two sub characters add charming and humorous moments even though they both don't speak a single word. Rapunzel's chameleon, Pascal has no dialogue of course. But without having to speak, he also makes you crack up throughout the entire movie, just by pointing and making funny faces. The horse, Maximus also does not talk but through his body and facial movements you get the point he is trying to get across, which is entertaining to say the least.

The movie definitely has adventurous qualities that keeps the viewers attention-- as an accidental meeting between Rapunzel and Flynn takes the audience on many thrilling adventures that are complimented by uncountable cute and comedic moments.

Personally I'm not a fan of the computer graphic animation in the newer Disney films, but in Tangled it is done so well you hardly notice it. The musical scores as well as the graphics are impressive and addictive to watch.
:)
Overall, I loved it. I don't have much to say against Tangled, which was a nice change from some of the recent projects to come from Disney. It's nice to see the fairy tale movies get back to the roots, and Tangled will remind you more of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty&The Beast and Snow White than you might expect.

and because i kinda have a teenager crush on Flynn Rider now,
MORE OF HIM below.

I Would Trade - Clarensau

Indra shared with me this song.
I love his song selection, from the 1st time i met him

till now, his 1st play list to me is still my fav.
As the rhythm of the acoustic guitar strum in my ears, i cant help but feel for this indie song.
Feelings so raw, affection so endearing.

The most beautiful thing about a song?
Is the fact that songs can bring back visuals & memories.
How a song connects to you... thats how good a song can be.

Everyone lost someone special before, or almost lost someone you loved.
This song brought me back to the cold hospital rooms, beeping of machines.
The hopefull yet hopeless sense of wishing, praying, hoping that everything would be fine.
How we frantically search for signs of the next step.
What should we do?
What can we do?

This song brought me back to the moments before she left.
This songs brought me back to the last few moments of her life with us.

I miss you amah.

I Would Trade - Clarensau

Another night in the waiting room
You’re fifty feet from me but I still miss you
Your body sleeps in that scary room
Unaware of the doctors that trying to save you

What can I do but wait
What can I do but pray

And I would trade all of my days to take the pain away
I would trade all of my days to take the pain away

Another night of restless sleep
When I wake will you still be here with me?
I’m looking for a sign of life
You squeeze my hand and maybe open your eyes

What can I do but wait
What can I do but pray

And I would trade all of my days to take the pain away
I would trade all of my days to take the pain away (Repeat till fade)

MirrorMask (2005)

I remember watching this in college.
Awesome nonetheless. The graphics... how surreal fantasy blends in with reality...
amazing.

"Onwards and Upwards!"

Trailer~

Tuesdays with Morrie

Old book... I know.
In fact it's not even mine. :)
but i thank the person who passed me the book.
a teacher indeed.

ever had someone who connected with you from the very start?
no need to be related, no need to be even "besties".
but you'd click instantly. :)
a teacher, a parent, a grandparent or just a friend.
Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it.

As the world got colder, and everything seems so busy. We'd go on and on with our lives chasing things which we think are important. then we get tired.... Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger?

Mitch Albom had that second chance. Months before his death, he met Morrie again. Knowing he was dying, Morrie sees with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live.

A few quotes which hit me right at the spot. i love them indeed.

On Getting Meaning into Life:

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning." (p.43)

On Culture:

"People are only mean when they're threatened, and that's what our culture does...And when you get threatened, you start looking out only for yourself. You start making money a god. It is all part of this culture." (p.42)
***
"The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it." (p.42)

On
Status and Showing Off:

"...if you're trying to show off for people at the top, forget it. They will look down on you anyhow. And if you're trying to show off for people at the bottom, forget it. They will only envy you. Status will get you nowhere. Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone." (p.127)

On
Being Number Two:

"What's wrong with being number two?" (p.159)

On Material Things:

"Don't cling to things, because everything is impermanent." (p.103)
* * *
"You can't substitute material things for love or for gentleness or for tenderness or for a sense of comradeship." (p.125)

On Family:

"The fact is, there is no foundation, no secure ground, upon which people may stand today if it isn't the family." (p.91)
* * *
"If you don't have the support and love and caring and concern that you get from a family, you don't have much at all. Love is so supremely important." (p.91)

On Emotions:

"If you hold back on the emotions--if you don't allow yourself to go all the way through them--you can never get to being detached, you're too busy being afraid." (p.104)

On Love:

"Love wins. Love always wins." (p.40)
* * *
"Love each other or die." (p.163)

On Relationships:

"There is no formula to relationships. They have to be negotiated in loving ways, with room for both parties, what they want and what they need, what they can do and what their life is like." (p.177,178)

On Forgiveness:

"Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others." (p.164)
* * *
"We...need to forgive ourselves...For all the things we didn't do. All the things we should have done. You can't get stuck on the regrets of what should have happened." (p.166)

On Most Important Thing in Life:

"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." (p.52)

On Trust:

"...if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too--even when you're in the dark." (p.61)

On Friendship:

"...we've had thirty-five years of friendship. You don't need speech or hearing to feel that." (p.71)

On Dying and Living:

"Don't let go too soon but, but don't hang on too long." (p.162)

On Aging:

"You have to find what's good and true and beautiful in your life as it is now. Looking back makes you competitive. And, age is not a competitive issue." (p.120)

On Immortality:

"...love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone." (p.133)

On Marriage:

"...there are a few rules I know to be true about love and marriage: If you don't respect the other person, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you don't know how to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you can't talk openly about what goes on between you, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. And if you don't have a common set of values in life, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. Your values must be alike." (p.149)
* * *
"I think marriage is a very important thing to do, and you're missing a hell of a lot if you don't try it." (p.149)

On Death :

"Death ends a life, not a relationship." (p.174)

-Mitch Albom

咖啡 coffee

太浓了吧否则怎会苦的说不出话 is it too thick? so bitter until u can't say a word.
每次都一个人在自问自答 every time i'd keep asking myself,
我们的爱到底还在吗 is there still love, the one we had between us?

已经淡了吧多放些糖也很难有变化 is it too thin? even after adding sugar, there seem to be no difference?
不如喝完这杯就各自回家
maybe we shud just finish this cup and go home, u go ur way and i'll go mine.
别坐在对面欣赏我的挣扎 dun just sit there watching me struggle.

一场失败的爱情像个笑话 when love has failed, it feels like a joke.
热得时候心乱如麻 when its hot, theres so many emotions going thru our hearts.
冷了以后看见自己够傻 when its cooled down, u'd realized what a fool we've been all this while.
人怎么会如此容易无法自拔 how can it be so hard to self control and let go?

一场无味的爱情像个谎话 when love has become dry, it feels like a lie.
甜的时候只相信它 when its sweet, you'd believe everything it says.
苦了以后每一句都可怕 when its bitter, every single sentence seems so scary.
人怎么会如此难以了无牵挂
how can we finally let go and be free of all these?

Twi-Twi

well... twilight is out!
*teenage girls screams & swoons*

:P
Everyone seems to love Edward. :S
I find his character very indecisive and a bit too fickle minded for my liking. He wants Bella, he doesn't want Bella, then he wants her again and dowan again, yada yada yada. MAN FRIGGIN MAKE UP YOUR MING ALREADY! =.="

It is Jacob's undying & unrelenting love for Bella that I find most admirable. Of course it helps that he takes off his shirt (EYES WIDE OPEN) revealing his rippling muscles from the very start la! *cheeky* And as the story goes, Jacob decides to cut his hair short and, ahem, couldn't even be bothered to wear a shirt, come rain or shine. oh the rain!
:) oooo.....

Edward or Jacob, you guys battle it out la! But hor...I don't like Bella. She is getting more annoying with each passing scene and shot. I mean, can the girl make up her mind? ish ish.

teaching me how to love you

Saw this from Karen's blog. went to check out the song.
Nice. :)
Her name was Sarah Jean, it was a night like this
In front of the Dairy Queen, she gave me my first kiss
I was just ten years old, so I never knew
She was teaching me how to love you
After the high school dance, in my ol' man's car
Holdin' Carol Ann, I tried to go too far
When she said "no", I didn't have a clue
She was teaching me how to love you
Every hand we hold, every bridge we burn
Every story told was another lesson learned
A few years ago, I met jill one night
Man I loved her so, but I didn't treat her right
When she left me there with my heart broke in two
She was teaching me how to love you
Every hand we hold, every bridge we burn
Every single story told is another lesson learned
So if I should glance in your rearview mirror
At every failed romance that brought you here
Honey, I can't be hurt by what I see
They were teaching you how to love me
They were teaching you how to love me

there's so much I wanted to say.

You whispered that you were getting tired
Got a look in your eye
Looks a lot like goodbye.
Hold on to your secrets tonight.
Don't want to know
i'm ok with this silence
It's truth that i don't want to hear

You're hiding regret in your smile
There's a storm in your eyes that's been passing for awhile
Hold on to the past tense tonight
Don't say a word
I'm ok with the quiet.
The truth is gonna change everything.

So lie to me and tell me that it's gonna be alright
So lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the night
I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart
Look me in the eye
Lie lie lie.

I know that there's no turning back.
If we put too much light on this we'll see through all the cracks.
Let's stay in the dark one more night.
Don't want to know
i'm ok with the silence.
It's truth that i don't want to hear.

So lie to me and tell me that it's gonna be alright
So lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the night
I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart
So look me in the eye
And lie lie lie.

Don't want to believe in this ending
Let the cameras roll on
Keep pretending
Tomorrow's all wrong if you walk away
Just stay

So lie to me and tell me that it's gonna be alright
So lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the night
I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart
Look me in the eye
And lie lie lie.

So lie to me and tell me that we're gonna be ok
So lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the day
I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart
Look me in the eye
And lie lie lie.

“Love Matters” is a movie revolves around three main protagonists –

52 year old Tan Bo Seng, 17 year old Benny his teenage son and 36 year old Jeremy, Bo Seng’s ‘adopted’ brother – and their accidental journey in seeking and keeping love and happiness.

Bo Seng (Henry Thia) leads a routine life. Attempts to revive the passion with his wife Jia Li (Yeo Yann Yann) cannot improve their stale love life. Henry Thia's Bo Seng and Yeo Yann Yann's Jia Li are husband and wife of many years, and they experience marital woes of not being appreciated and witnessing their sex life evaporate. Throw in some male ego-centric anxieties, and that sums up the first arc, a subject matter that Jack had tackled with That One No Enough

Jeremy (Jack Lim) lives a colourful life, colourful in reference to his long list of girlfriends. “Never to commit” is his motto for love.

Benny (Alex Leong) has just school life, his only vice is anything to do with the computer, his only distraction is his crush, Jennifer (Natalli), his classmate’s girl.

Bo Seng & Jia Li the old fashion couple has more misses than hits in the love department and a series of madness spin off one night …

Jeremy meets Benny’s teacher, Ms Wong (Cheryl Lee) - a lady, unlike the wild things he has had. His charm wins him her heart, but his Casanova means refuse to take a back seat, a new lady friend threatens to change his life …

Benny starts to see hope in relationships, when Jennifer notices him and invites him over to her place. Over the visit, Jennifer’s friendly attention, takes a turn into something that Benny wish he has not been…

“Love Matters” is a humorous and entertaining look at love, happiness and issues concerning our straight laced society. It is full of trade-mark Jack Neo’s laugh-a-minute jokes and situations yet combined with a sensitive look at how we deal with issues concerning matters of the heart.

Interestingly enough. I did not noe that this is a show done in Malaysia KL. LOLZ.
i tot its a singapore show. hoho.

i heard that it is a far cry for jack neo's great works as alot of parts were pretty badly executed.
lame jokes. weird kiddo actors, especially the "teenager" parts.

but the reason y "love matters" interested me was the message it was trying to send.
1. i tink it is one of the very few ( if nt first few) sex related movie in Malaysia.
2. i tink the most sentimental part of the movie are done by the veterans la. the husband and wife. one of the main message was that after being married for so long, " i do not know if u still love me" idea came up. its seriously true in the sense that alot of couples fall apart after being married for so many years. and after 20, 30 years later they find themselves wondering if their partner still loves them like they use to. given that they have both aged and so occupied with their family. there oso the "jus because we dont have sex anymore doesnt mean that i dont love u anymore", the whole marriage concept has been put up to the challenge in this show.

it may be a little bit over dramatise, it maybe a little bit too theatrical. it may not be Jack Neo's best work. but heck, it shud still be a watchable show laaaa...

bangkok love story

caryn likes international movies.
caryn likes gutsy controversial movies.
so whats not to like about this thai action-love story between two hot men?
muahahahha.

Rattaballung Tohssawat as Mhek (Cloud)
Chaiwat Thongsaeng as Iht (Brick)

5 nominations & 4 wins, Poj Amon(director & writer) 's was not run of the mill. The delivery of the story had enough twist and turns to keep one interested, even though one had the feeling that the end had been pre-defined, it was not anticipated.

The cover of the DVD for this very fine film is misleading: the photograph of the two leads in a rather quiet and elegant setting is NOTHING close to what this movie portrayed. Writer/Director Poj Amon has created a love story that is more from the the poor section of Bangkok rather than focusing on the 'tourist view' of Thailand, he instead finds a different kind of beauty molded into a love story from a far different perspective. And it works very well.

i wanted to give you all the "oh-i'm-so-touched-and-i'm-gonna-cry" review with every detailed typed out jus to annoy you. wahahhaha. but that was yesterday. tday, caryn is busy with her work. so she's jus gonna get it out of her system. :)

The story is about an assassin Mhek who was ordered by his boss to kidnap this one guy Iht and it turned out that this assassin just kills bad guys not good guy like this guy so the assassin saved this guy's life and hurt himself. This guy helped to healed his shot's wound and in process they fall in love.

The next scenes literally ooze with homo-eroticism as both men, usually bare to the waist, (and in very close proximity), continually check each other out when the other isn't looking, while hiding out until the coast is clear. This part of the film is executed masterfully.
The sexual tension brews to a boiling point and then finally explodes when Iht sponges Mhek's back as he bathes. They look at each other, kiss, and then suddenly they are all over each other. The photography in the ensuing seduction scene between these two very masculine men, (which was probably eye-popping in Thailand cinemas), resembles a bleached Calvin Klein commercial; set on the rooftop against the Bangkok skyline, it is steamy and sensual, underscored with lush, romantic piano music. But when it's all over, Mhek freaks, throws Iht out and pours water over himself to cleanse away what just happened. The heartbroken Iht returns to his fiancee but things are no longer the same between them.

So....the assassin chased him out of his place but this guy really couldn't get rid of the thought of missing the assassin. The assassin's family also complicated, his mother was blind and his little brother had aids because his little brother got raped buy his foster father who also had aids. Since then the assassin worked hard to find money to support his family. At the end the guy devoted himself for the assassin but still it is a tragic ending film.

(imagine the one i wanted to give u was like 7 paragraphs long) wahahaahha.

The ending could have been triumphant (and for moments it is, emotionally), but instead Poj Amon opts for tragedy, a writer's decision that makes the film even more powerful.

the starting 1 st hour was great! i was hooked! then it got abitdraggy at the end.
nonetheless! HEY! ITS AN ASIAN GAY MOVIE!
Straight or Gay, it doesn't matter, because the story/movie is EXCELLENT.

i like!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't eight years too long to wait for a spinoff to La Brassiere? Writer-director Chan Hing-Ka obviously thinks not, because he's given us La Lingerie, another film about how a woman's undergarments hold the key to the exhortations of her modern soul.
Lingerie, love and loss are the three words with which I can best describe this film.
Miu, Donut, Celine and CC come from different walks of life. However, their love lives are tied together by a common thread (or shall we say, strap) la lingerie.
Sounds appealing? You bet! You won't be disappointed if you're in just for the title of the movie, as there is an endless flow of lingerie for your eyes to feast on. Of course, the also come with lovely ladies to show them off.
In this film, Miu is the main character, however, the stories that revolves around the other three girls are much more juicier. The combination of the different lives that these girls experience is good and that it gives variety, as not all of their stories have that plain old expected fairytale ending.
It is indeed truthful to reality at some point. In the beginning, the story is very promising to the movie title and soon seductive scenes and slow motion movements begin to roll. They make you want to giggle sheepishly or laugh out loud. As you go on, somehow you will be left to wonder if this film is really about lingerie or about men's crazy obsession to devirginise women.
The movie implies that there supposedly is an expiry date to a virgin! You will come across many ridiculously funny scenes when the new boss, Prince Antonio arrives. He has officially coined a never-before-heard term for 'safe sex' that will leave you wanting more of his sexual definitions. When this supposedly 'safe sex' is performed, you can't help but feel sad and laugh at both parties.
As the film nears its end, a very meaningful moral lesson is learnt and it was witty the way both directors combined bras with a women's heart. Moreover, an interesting insight on lingerie as every bra has its own story and perhaps a hidden secret.
In a nutshell, this film is more than about lacy undergarments, it is about the love they learn and that not every girl ends up like a Cinderella. although, i would wonder at times, would it have been a better show if it was less a comedy and more realistic? then it'll be jus a remake of "sex and the city" in cantonist.... ceh!
wahahha...

the other boleyn girl

Based on the best selling novel by Philippa Gregory, The Other Boleyn Girl is an engrossing and sensual tale of intrigue, romance, and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in history.

Two sisters, Anne (Natalie Portman) and Mary (Scarlett Johansson) Boleyn, are driven by their ambitious father and uncle to advance the family’s power and status by courting the affections of the King of England (Eric Bana). Leaving behind the simplicity of country life, the girls are thrust into the dangerous and thrilling world of court life – and what began as a bid to help their family develops into a ruthless rivalry between Anne and Mary for the love of the king.

Initially, Mary wins King Henry’s favor and becomes his mistress, bearing him an illegitimate child. But Anne, clever, conniving, and fearless, edges aside both her sister and Henry’s wife, Queen Katherine of Aragon, in her relentless pursuit of the king. Despite Mary’s genuine feelings for Henry, her sister Anne has her sights set on the ultimate prize; Anne will not stop until she is Queen of England.

As the Boleyn girls battle for the love of a king – one driven by ambition, the other by true affection – England is torn apart. Despite the dramatic consequences, the Boleyn girls ultimately find strength and loyalty in each other, and they remain forever connected by their bond as sisters.

....................................................................
it's not to say super duper bombastic chunted la..
but to me its still alright.
more like a melodrama.
A depressing soap opera of a film, "The Other Boleyn Girl" makes early English history, at least for women, look like Hades itself. And maybe it was. After all, a woman's reputation and worth did not depend on so much on her education, personality and goodness.
tehre were time when you can actually look and think how incredible the show would have been!
A rather titillating take on a racy historical novel, this is perhaps too ambitious in intent. More time, or more pruning (perhaps they should just have focused on The Boleyn girl), would have produced a richer and more enjoyable film.

nonetheless....... : eric bana is HOT!

HANCOCK!

the title says it all...
since when does will smith movies suck??!!
i never saw one...
wild wild west was shaky... i'll admit to that...

but guys~
its will smith!
i've always been a fan of his shows....

HANCOCK...
i loved it....
Will Smith plays as Hancock a tortured superhero named Hancock who crash-lands in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. With great power comes great responsibility — everyone knows that — everyone, that is, but Hancock. Hancock has a great power and willing to save people but he always leave a mess after done it. Until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet — and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he’s a lost cause.

you look at that?!

mayb its jus me...
but i seriously have the hots for him~

yup...i have my very own room now...
i've actualy moved in last week...
but there was no bed...-.-"
but as of last night...
the room is complete. the i spent the evening watching this....

raise your voice

although i'm never a fan of hillary duff...
never is... never was...
but this movie is good...
sceptical about HD's ability and talent to sing and act...
nonetheess...i like the storyline...

it may be cliche as to say...
"chase your dreams no matter wat"concept...

typical...

nthg much to "wow!" about...
but its ok...

but....
a cute, charming musical inclined english boi with adorable british accent wouldn't harm it.
did i say charming?! *grins*
the rugged not-so-bad-looking-himself lec is definately a plus point...
the LA locations were beautiful too.... sunrise...sunsets...the beach... the city...whoa...

AARRGGHH....!!!
its a good show about chasing your dreams despite wat others might say....
which happen to be at a musical school which is filled with good looking ppl....

kapish??!

Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky), an overweight teenager with all the right moves, is obsessed with the Corny Collins Show. Every day after school, she and her best friend Penny (Amanda Bynes)run home to watch the show and drool over the hot Link Larkin (Zac Efron), much to Tracy's mother Edna's (John Travolta) dismay. After one of the stars of the show leaves, Corny Collins (Jason Marsden) holds auditions to see who will be the next person on the Corny Collins show. With all of the help of her friend Seaweed (Elijah Kelly), Tracy makes it on the show, angering the evil dance queen Amber Von Tussle (Brittany Snow) and her mother Velma (Michelle Pfieffer). Tracy then decides that it's not fair that the black kids can only dance on the Corny Collins Show once a month, and with the help of Seaweed, Link, Penny, Motormouth Maybelle (Queen Latifah), her father (Christopher Walken) and Edna, she's going to integrate the show.....without denting her 'do!
